Baptism in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit is the sacrament by which people become members of Christ’s Church

The Church of Scotland tradition is to baptise both Adult believers, on their public confession of faith, and the children of Christian families, on whose behalf their parents or sponsors make the baptismal vows, including the promise to teach the child the Christian faith and to bring them up in the Church so that they may in due course make their own profession of faith, have their baptismal vows confirmed, and be admitted to membership of the church in their own right.
